No fewer than 1,275 people in different communities across Gombe State received free healthcare services during a medical outreach organised by Rotary International in partnership with the Gombe State Government.
The outreach took place from May 18 to 22, 2026, in communities within Gombe, Yamaltu/Deba, and Kaltungo Local Government Areas.
The programme is part of the “Together for Healthy Families” project being carried out in Gombe, Nasarawa, Ekiti, and the Federal Capital Territory under the leadership of Prof. Emmanuel A. Lufadeju.
Representatives of Rotary and the Gombe State Government said the outreach was aimed at helping mothers, children, and elderly people get free and easy access to healthcare services.
The community head of Gujuba, Mallam Saidu Garba, thanked Rotary and its partners for bringing the medical services to the area and helping solve health challenges in the community.
A representative of the Rotary Club of Kaltungo said the outreach showed Rotary’s commitment to helping vulnerable people through teamwork and compassion.
A total of 51 personnel took part in the exercise, including healthcare workers and Local Government officials.
The medical team included nurses, midwives, health officers, laboratory workers, pharmacy staff, and social mobilisation officers. Rotarians from Kaltungo also joined the exercise.
Partners such as Jhpiego, WHO, Boys Brigade, and GCDA supported the outreach with medical supplies and other health services.
Records showed that 268 people benefited in Gombe LGA, 531 in Yamaltu/Deba, and 476 in Kaltungo. Also, 65 birthing kits were shared with pregnant women.
The outreach provided immunisation, health education, medical tests, treatment, family planning services, and referrals for children, pregnant women, and elderly people.
Residents thanked Rotary International and its partners for supporting healthcare services in rural communities across Gombe State.
