Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu on Friday inaugurated seven Permanent Secretaries and five members of the Lagos State Health Service Commission, in a move aimed at strengthening governance and enhancing service delivery across the state.

The swearing-in ceremony, held at Lagos House in Ikeja, attracted top government officials, civil servants, and family members, underscoring the administration’s commitment to institutional continuity and stability.

Addressing the newly appointed officials, Sanwo-Olu described their appointments as strategic, particularly for advancing reforms in critical sectors such as health, innovation, and public administration. He urged them to justify the confidence reposed in them by driving impactful change across ministries, departments, and agencies.

“Congratulations to you all. You have been selected based on performance and merit. A lot is expected from you.

“Your elevation is not ceremonial. It is a call to deepen reforms and ensure public institutions respond effectively to citizens’ needs.

“Continue to drive innovation and be fair in all you do,” the governor said, stressing the importance of transparency and accountability in governance.

The governor also announced the appointment of Kayode Oguntimehin as chairman of the Health Service Commission, tasking him and other members with strengthening the state’s healthcare system.

Sanwo-Olu further urged the appointees to establish clear performance benchmarks, uphold integrity, and sustain Lagos State’s culture of effective leadership. He emphasised the need for collaboration among Permanent Secretaries, noting that policy alignment and coordination across ministries would be critical to achieving measurable outcomes.

He called on the officials to demonstrate diligence, efficiency, and responsiveness in delivering improved services to residents.

In their response, the appointees expressed gratitude to the governor for the opportunity to serve, pledging professionalism and dedication to the state’s development agenda. They assured residents of improved service delivery, with a focus on efficiency, transparency, and people-centred policies.

Earlier, the Head of Service, Bode Agoro, said the appointments reflected fairness and transparency, noting that the selection process adhered strictly to established guidelines to ensure competence and representation across the public service.

He urged the new officials to оправ justify the trust placed in them through meaningful contributions to governance and service delivery.

Among the key postings, Busola Durodola was deployed to the Local Government Service Commission, while Olubunmi Oladeji was assigned to the Cabinet Office. Tiwalade Shorongbe was posted to the Ministry of Innovation, Science and Technology, among others.

The governor expressed confidence that the new appointees would bolster institutional capacity and sustain Lagos State’s trajectory of reform and service excellence.
