Hezbollah Congratulates New Hamas Leader Yehya al-Sinwar
Lebanon’s Shiite Hezbollah organization has extended its congratulations to Yehya al-Sinwar on his election as the leader of the Palestinian militant group, Hamas.
This leadership change follows the assassination of Hamas Foreign Chief Ismail Haniyeh, who was killed by an explosive device in a heavily guarded complex in Tehran, Iran. A Times investigation confirmed the details of the attack.
In a statement released Wednesday, Hezbollah declared, “Al-Sinwar’s appointment as head of Hamas’ political bureau is proof of Israel’s failure. Israel has not succeeded in eliminating Hamas leaders.”
Hezbollah further emphasized that al-Sinwar’s appointment sends a strong message to Israel and its allies, underscoring Hamas’s unity and steadfastness. “Hamas remains committed to its path of resistance and struggle,” the statement concluded.
