President Bola Tinubu will depart Abuja on Saturday, June 28, for a two-nation trip to Saint Lucia and Brazil, according to a statement from his spokesman, Bayo Onanuga.

The president’s first stop will be Saint Lucia, where he is scheduled to embark on a state visit aimed at deepening Nigeria’s relations with Caribbean nations.

A key highlight of the visit will be Tinubu’s address to a special joint session of the Saint Lucian Senate and House of Assembly, to be held at the William Jefferson Clinton Ballroom, Sandals Grande, Gros Islet. The event will be attended by the Heads of Government of the Organisation of Eastern Caribbean States (OECS), members of the diplomatic corps, and the Nigerian community in Saint Lucia.

President Tinubu will also hold a high-level luncheon with OECS leaders and visit the Sir Arthur Lewis Community College in Castries to promote educational cooperation and academic exchange.

Following the Saint Lucia visit, Tinubu will head to Brazil to participate in the 17th BRICS Summit, which will take place in Rio de Janeiro from July 6 to 7.

Nigeria is attending the summit as a ‘partner country,’ joining other African nations like South Africa, Egypt, and Ethiopia. The summit, themed “Strengthening Global South Cooperation for More Inclusive and Sustainable Governance,” will focus on enhancing collaboration for social, economic, and environmental development across BRICS member and partner countries.

The president will be accompanied by senior government officials throughout the trip.
