The Edo State Police Command has arrested a 46-year-old man posing as a medical doctor after a woman accused him of helping her deliver a baby that later went missing.

The suspect, identified as Osazee Okungbowa, was among 32 suspects paraded by the Commissioner of Police, Monday Agbonika, in Benin City on Friday.

According to the police, Okungbowa came under investigation after a woman reported that her baby disappeared following a delivery allegedly conducted by the suspect.

Speaking during the parade, Agbonika said the suspects were arrested through intelligence-driven operations and coordinated tactical responses carried out across Edo State.

He said those paraded included suspected kidnappers, cultists, armed robbers, murder suspects and others linked to various criminal offences.

The police commissioner disclosed that the command arrested 15 suspected cultists, three armed robbery suspects, 11 murder suspects and 14 suspects connected with rape and defilement cases during the period under review.

Agbonika said the command had intensified intelligence-led policing and sustained operations targeting kidnappers, cult groups, armed robbers and other violent criminals across the state.

He noted that the command remained determined to deny criminal elements safe haven in Edo State, adding that the successes recorded were the result of the dedication and professionalism of police officers working in collaboration with other security agencies and with support from residents.
