Barack Obama Admits Struggles in Marriage to Michelle Amid Divorce Speculations
Former U.S. President Barack Obama has made a candid remark about his marriage to Michelle Obama, admitting he’s working to recover from a “deep deficit” with his wife, amid persistent divorce rumors.
The 63-year-old addressed students at Hamilton College during a conversation with the school’s president, Steven Tepper, where he shared insights into his post-presidency life.
Obama, who said he’s currently focused on completing the second volume of his memoir, compared the task to writing “50 term papers,” adding, “It just goes on forever.”
Shifting to his personal life, Obama revealed, “I was in a deep deficit with my wife, so I have been trying to dig myself out of that hole by doing occasionally fun things.”
The comment comes as speculation about the Obamas’ relationship continues to swirl, fueled by Barack’s solo appearances at high-profile events such as the funeral of former President Jimmy Carter and former President Donald Trump’s inauguration.
During the same event, Obama also took a swipe at Trump, expressing disbelief over what the former Republican president has gotten away with.
“Imagine if I had done any of this,” Obama said. “It’s unimaginable that the same parties that are silent now would have tolerated behavior like that from me or a whole bunch of my predecessors.”
