Each of the eight clubs competing in the CAF Women’s Champions League in Morocco will receive at least $150,000 in prize money, with a substantial increase in total awards for this year’s tournament.
According to a statement by CAF on Thursday, the 2024 prize pool has seen a 52% increase, bringing the winner’s reward to $600,000. The Confederation of African Football highlighted its commitment to advancing women’s football on the continent through strategic investments and by boosting prize money to elevate the global appeal of its competitions.
Nigeria’s representative, Edo Queens, is set to earn over N200 million in prize money for qualifying for the league. Edo Queens secured their debut spot in the Champions League by winning the WAFU B qualifiers earlier this year. They will compete in Group B alongside CBE FC of Ethiopia, Mamelodi Sundowns of South Africa, and Masar FC of Egypt.
In Group A, Senegal’s Aigles de la Médina will face AS FAR of Morocco, TP Mazembe of Congo, and UWC FC of South Africa.
